Create Silhouette outline curve of assembly drawing

Hello community,

Has anyone come across a way of creating a curve from the silhouette outline of an assembly in a drawing or a model?

Regards

Andrew

Create an assembly cross section and then create a datum curve "from cross section".

Components excluded in the cross section will not generate curves.

create a sketch in the assembly on a flat surface or plane parallel to the view you want the view on, the use "Project" to create lines and use "corner" to get a closed loop. Then copy the sketch to a new part, you can then create a drawing from this part.

If this is too much work, perhaps you can create a drawing from your assembly, export this to dxf and remove unwanted lines in Adobe Illustrator instead..

try this

Create 3D Models from DXF

Use Start Part (inch or Metric), Insert Shared Data, From File, Search and Select DXF file, Open, Import Data As, Protrusion, OK, Extrude, Placement Front, Sketch, Select (Use) from offset tool, Loop, Select an edge, OK, Done, Select extrusion properties wanted, √.

This from my notes! Works in WF 5 should be something similar in CREO. I use it to convert 2D acad to 3D models
