Creating BOM balloons w/qty for flexible hoses

Greetings,

I need to show the same hose part number in multiple deformed states within an assembly. We model each variant hose as a separateassembly. Their filenames are the same p/n but a different suffix. Thus, by filtering out the suffix, I can use relations within the repeat regionto make them all the same p/n as well as show the correct quantity in the repeat region. The problem is:

  • cannot fix index
  • cannot show balloon w/qty
After trying every trick I can think of, the answer seems to be to use WF4, which supports BOM balloons for flexible components, or apply draft entity balloons. Even if we use WF4, we have a lot of legacy hoses which cannotbe Rev changedto make them 'flexible'. I've tried using component parameters and cabling parameters to store the p/n, but no success. This would seem like an issue that existed long before WF4, so I wonder if any of you could share how youhave succeeded with it? Thanks in advance!

Akbar,

A split balloon will show the Qty below, drawback can be, If you have any
checkers using Mil-Spec. standards or
even Ansi, you may have a time getting them thru check.

Work-around is to redefine the split symbol. 3 are needed. One for no Qty,
one for Qty left side, and one for right side.
Redefine the symbol removing the split line and remove the Qty for
no-quantity, for the left and right remove the center split
line and move the Qty to the left or right.
Also want to resize the balloon, unless in drw set-up file

They are temperamental from Pro-E version to version. Needs to be a
request to add this function to Pro-E.
Along with being able to add an item number to a note which will update
per the parts list.

Akbar,

Sorry, my first response did not apply to your question.
Have you tried assembly instances?
