Creo1 compatibility with Windchill 10.1

I have seen a very strange compatibility chart that claims that while Wildfire5 will be compatible with Windchill 10.1, Creo1 will not. Anyone has any insight about this abnormality? Thank you

I saw that too. It dampens our enthusiasm for Creo 1.0. I don’t want to upgrade to Creo 1.0, then to 2.0 in order to move Windchill forward. I wonder if PTC views Creo 1.0 as a demonstrator release expecting majority of customers to skip it and wait for Creo 2.0? We have concerns about adopting Creo 2.0 too early. Windchill 10.1 has incremental improvements over 10.0 and addresses some negative comments our users have made about 9.1 & 10.0.

I saw that when the chart came out last week and wondered why.
Can someone from PTC explain the rational of not supporting Creo1 in WC10.1?
Currently working on a multi-step upgrade from WC9.0m050 to WC10.0m020 but keeping WF4. I suppose if we make a late decision to go to 10.1, then we would only go to Creo Elements/Pro 5m130 to get through the upgrade. Creo can wait! 🙂

Going to WC at build m010 or even m020 is usually not an issue.
Going to a build of WF/Creo prior to m060 is a concern. Maybe it is just prior experience that makes me skeptical, but what else do you have to on after supporting PTC products for 10 years.

Here is the Case I opened with PTC and their response.

PTC Case No.10745783

Hi Andy,

Yes I have information for you from our Development team.

Here is what they say:
Creo 1.0 support was dropped in order to accommodate a broader support plan for Creo 2.0. In the compatibility roadmap you will not that Creo 2.0 is being supported with 9.1, 10.0 and 10.1. The compatibility matrix for 10.1 should show the projected support plans for Creo 2.0 at least out to 10.1 M010. Looking past 10.1 M010 is a bit more difficult to predict and hence we don't publish it since schedules are more subject to variation. You'll note in the compatibility matrix that we have a '+' sign next to F000 for Creo 2.0. This means that Windchill 10.1 F000 supports Creo 2.0 F000 or later MRs of Creo 2.0.

Let me know if you have any more questions on this.

Thanks,
Shashi

So - hypothetically speaking - if one is currently at Creo 1.0 on Windchill 9.1, then a migration to Windchill 10.1 forces adopting Creo 2.0 simultaneously. Or am I interpreting this incorrectly?

No you aren't. That is what the compatibility chart shows.

You are interpreting the chart correctly.
