Re: Cross Section View in 3D

I started experiencing this in WF5 and checked my RAM usage in the Windows resource monitor. It was maxing out with 16GB of RAM when placing a cross-section of a complex assembly! It would immediately drop back down to around 8GB after the view was placed on the drawing.

I upgraded to 24GB of RAM and now it hits about 23GB for creating that view.

It seems pretty excessive to me, but when I logged a call with PTC, they were unable to give me any helpful information as to why the processor and memory usage was so extreme.

2GB seems like barely enough to run Pro/E empty. I recommend at least 8GB and a Quadro or Quardro fx graphics card. Check PTC's site for compatibility with your hardware: http://www.ptc.com/partners/hardware/current/support.htm

Here is the setup we use for all of our standard workstations:

HP z600 workstation

Windows 7, 64 bit

Xenon or eqiv multi-core processor

8GB RAM

Quadro 4000 graphics card
