EXTERNAL:Sheetmetal Best Practices.

Haven't used it yet... I have to give it a try!

Also thought of another one:

6) Make an effort to make subassemblies

If you have 3 sheetmetal parts that fit together, make them into a
subassembly.

Order a xyzpdq-1 subassembly that consists of xyzpdq-11, xyzpdq-13, and
xyzpdq-15 parts preassembled.

This means that they will always fit together because the sheetmetal
shop delivered them assembled already.

It takes some of the effort out of quality control and you can control
dimensions of the entire assembly if you want.

Once again, not easy to get your technicians to love you... this will
nudge you further down that path...

Best regards,

Frederick Burke

Always assemble a sheetmetal part into an assembly of it's own before assembling it to other parts, or creating a drawing.

In other words, never make a drawing of a sheetmetal part file, always add it to an assembly where it's the first part before making a drawing or adding it to another assembly.

This allows you to add press-in features at a later time without having to re-do the drawing or the assembly.
