How To Create A Weld Between Two Sheetmetal Flanges?

Hi,

I am running an assembly comprised of a series of sheetmetal parts through Mechanica. I want to weld the ends/corners of my sheetmetal flanges together so the sheetmetal parts become more accurate under analysis.

Using a simple end weld seems ok, until I run the analysis (modal) and it nearly instantly gives an error saying the weld(s) have been excluded. I am unable to find an explanation although I'm sure the answer is fairly straight forward.

I am picking the two surfaces adjacent to one another at the end of each flange, which are separated of course (but on the same part).

All of the tutorials seems to be with regard to two separate objects, so I am unsure if the problem is due to the weld surfaces being on the same part?

Thank you for your help.
