How to manage BOM for flexible assemblies?

We have some ECAD flex assemblies where the bare flex is designed using sheet metal in the bent position. Additional components are mated to the bent position of the assembly. We have a requirement to provide views of the assembled flex in its flattened state. Today, this is done by creating a simplified representation for the flat state where the components in the mated position are excluded, and the components are inserted again and mated in the correct position. The issue is that the BOM built in Windchill on the WTPart side then has duplicates for those components. They can be removed, but it's a hassle and prone to error.

Is there anyway to have multiple mate conditions within an assembly? Ideally we'd insert these components once, then have 2 mate conditions: 1 for the bent condition, then another for the flat condition.

Barring that, is there any way in Creo for an engineer to specify that a particular occurrence of a model should be excluded from the BOM, without having to go into Windchill and edit the WTPart structure?
