RE: End Mill & tool Holder definition

This could easily be solved by using a solid tool and full gouge
checking capability of the tool assembly. However, until Wildfire 4 or
beyond, this does not exist.

End Mill & tool Holder definition

Almost every part I create has at least 1 feature created with a key-cutter type end mill, either to create an o-ring groove or to create an undercut.

The problem I have is that the tool is only defined as the height and diameter of the cutting area. i.e. a simple disk. What happens when I run the code is either the shank of the tool hits the part (I try to avoid this by designing around the tools I have) or the tool holder hits the part (this is more of a problem).

Is there any way to model the tool shank and holder within Pro to help determine when this might happen?

Thanx
Tony

Tony

You need to define the cutter as a "side_milling" tool which will enable
you to define the slotting tool with a shank.
