Top down modeling

Top down modeling

Hello All

Can anybody explain the relative advantages of top down approach compared to the traditional assembly by constraints.

Cheers

Re: Top down modeling

Top-down Design doesn't replace assembly constraints.

Basically it will allow you to control dependencies, leveraging them when
you change a dimension.

Imagine you have a block 100×50 and another one 100×50 on top.

You can model both separately and assemble them.

Or you can create a skeleton model with a 100×50 sketch and use it to model
both parts in an assembly context.

When you change the sketch, both parts update.

This is the most basic example I can think of, so I'd get some training in
Top-Down design or attend some web-seminars that are available on ptc.com.
