Transparency of part in shaded view of assembly

Transparency of part in shaded view of assembly

Hi,

The Wildfire "New User" notes use a model aero-engine where the crankcase/block part is transparent in the engine assembly. What is the technique used to achieve this?

TIA

To show a component as transparent, you need to create a color (View>Colors & Appearances) and set it's transparency in the "Advanced" tab - then assign the color to the part.

You can use the "Style" tab in the View Manager to establish how individual components are shown (or not) in an assembly. Some parts can be wireframe, some solid, some hidden, etc.

Thanks everyone for telling me to go to View>Color and Appearance. The challenge was that this menu item did "nothing". Nate's screenshot inspired me to resize the screen to a higher resolution. There was the pane lurking off my usual screen area!

Hope this helps someone else one day.

Best wishes
