just learning creo mechanism. need help trying to edit an existing assembly.

is there a way to create a mechanism from an existing assembly?  i cant figure out how to create joints if the parts are already in the assembly. even if I first "break" the connection of the part from the assembly. joint creation box doesn't come up.

This is one of those "it all depends" questions, but let's assume the assembly is fully and properly constrained without the use of mechanism constraints.

First you have to interrogate the model.  Next you can test the drag function by disabling specific constraint sets to see if things move as expected.

Most times, depending on the complexity of the assembly, I just start over.

Hi,

1. your Creo license must contain Mechanism Design module

2. you can deactivate current set of constraints related to a component and define new one ... later you can switch between those sets
