lathe programming with multiple reference part positions
Hi fellow users,
I'm trying to figure out the best method for programming a lathe part that changes position in the machine several times though use of position transfers utilizing the sub-spindle.
Are people programming a single part/work-piece assembly in space?
Or, are people constructing an assembly of their machine and assembling several instances of the same part in the different positions in which it will be machined? This gets messy, particularly when the positions overlap.
I've started out with multiple parts as I am familiar with when doing tombstone fixturing on a machining center but feel I may need to switch gears for this lathe stuff. I've been handling the transfers and zero shifts with CL-commands that pass relation driven parameters to custom macros in the post. I guess I could still do this if I program a single part/work-piece assembly in space but would have to approach it differently.
