showing parts

All,

I have inherited an assembly with sub-assemblies within it. WF2. When I
select a part in the work area it does not highlight in the model tree
because it is part of one of the sub-assemblies. But which one?

Is there a way to have the sub-assembly light up so that I know what
subassembly the part exists in?

Thanks in advance!

RE: showing parts

One method is to click on the component then right click. You should get
the menu below. Click the "Select Parent" option.

You may have to do this more than once if the component is buried with more
than one subassembly.

RE: showing parts

Kevin,

I have run into the same problem as you when running Pro-E WF versions 2.0 and 3.0. Hopefully someone will have the answer to your question. This really simple if you use Solid Edge 3D Cad software. Just hover the mouse over the sub-assy that you are interested in and the model tree will highlight in the assembly that contains the sub-assembly you wish to find. Solid Edge also has a scroll to part feature. Left click on the part in the graphics window and then right click and select scroll to part. The model tree will automatically expand and the part will now be selected in the model tree window. This is a very handy feature when working on large assembly models. Does Pro-E WF 2.0 & 3.0 have this scroll to part capability?
