where do I put this in the creo 3 files so that it opens automatically.  I had it working in creo 2 but its not working in 3.   thanks.

It should work if you unzip it into your "start in" directory.

Alternately, you can set the config option "pro_colormap_path" to point to a directory containing the "appearance.dmt" file.

I'm not sure about Creo 3. Does it not have a 'graphic-library' folder the same way Creo 2 does?

Anyway, the config option Doug mentions should work.

the pro_colormap_path wasn't working.
