CED products should be able to communicate via IPv6

CED products should be able to communicate via IPv6

At present it is not possible to use CED products such as the MEls license server or the ModelManager in combination with products that do not support IPv4.

An example of this is Microsoft Direct Access, which only supports IPv6.

This should be made possible immediately.

Same problem for us, no possibility for "Homeoffice users" to use CED products via Microsoft Direct Access cause MEls does not support IPv6 communication. So no licenses could be granted to clients using Direct Access. We would need an solution as soon as possible.

There are several VPN Clients as alternative.
However, this requires that your Company has/provides a corresponding VPN Gateway.
(this has been the case for 15+ years )

We are aware of this. We would like to replace VPN with Direct Access. If only it would work.

With IPv6 you would possibly open a can of Worms.

Your MEls would be visible and reachable from the public Internet.
Would mean that ACLs for licenses would also need to be enhanced to IPv6.
This is just one bullet on a possibly long list of changes that would to be made.

Unfortunately PTC has dropped the License Borrowing Feature of MEls from the Price list.
(It is still there, but you cannot buy it anymore).
This would have been an alternative to waiting for IPv6 Support which will possibly never come.
