ModelManager - Settings Thumbnail

The thumbnail should be set centrally for all users ModelManager so that they look uniform.

As of today, thumbnail sizes are controlled by two preferences, so a global setting of the size can be done via the XML file.

There should also be a limit on the size of thumbnails; if the thumbnail is too large, it will crash Model Manager (I know from experience!!).

Setting a limit is not a big deal, since it can be controlled via XML.

However this does NOT fix thumbnails that are already saved in the Database.

Unfortunately, there is NO size Information available for "related files" (DB table WM_RELATED_FILES).

Currently, the only 100% solution would be:

- Set a fixed thumbnail size for all users via XML - protect the two values

- Make sure that no user can use his own (copied/modified) XML

- Re-generate all Thumbnails by a (custom) batch Job

I don't think that PTC R&D will ever implement a limit, because that can already by done via XML Settings.

The remaining Tasks are a matter of Consulting.

INNEO and other companies have the required skills and knowhow to perform these Tasks.
