PDF created with CoCreate Drafting/Annotation should contain real Texts which can be copied.
Texts could be searched/copied/highlighted from the Document.
Documents could be indexed by Adobe Catalog -> Full Text Search Engines can find Contents of Documents.

PDF files created in Drafting and Annotator, whether using the PDF_GENERIC or a third party pdf utility such as Bullzip PDF Printer, create a simple image. It would be more useful if the PDF created had searchable/selectable text. If you receive a pdf of a drawing, you may want to copy and paste the drawing number to email it to someone, being able to select the drawing number right off the pdf prevents a confusing typo. You may have a large flag note on a drawing that you want to share – being able to select, copy, and paste save a lot of transcription and possible typos.
Being searchable will improve communication. You may have someone on the phone asking you to look at the dimension that measures 2.482 – if the text in the pdf is text rather than just lots of dots and lines the drawing is searchable, so you can just hit ctrl-f in your pdf viewer to search, type in 2.482, hit enter and the dimension(s) are highlighted, quickly showing the location of the feature in question.
Unless there are settings I’m not aware of, the built in PDF_GENERIC printer does not offer any control over linetype, line color, or line thickness. This the PDF_GENERIC printer nearly worthless to us, since it’s output is not how we need it to look.
