To improve efficiency and streamline the design/drafting efforts, I suggest implementing a feature that automatically detects and provides duplicate CAD drawing component parameters/dimensions through the scanning of CAD drawings in the Windchill drawing file database. This feature can be a value addition to the Windchill platform and can be accomplished as follows:   Develop a smart AI feature that can scan CAD drawing components and identify duplicate drawings based on various parameters such as CAD drawing components, dimensions, file content, and metadata. Create a user-friendly interface within Windchill where users can review and manage detected duplicates. Provide options to merge, archive, or delete duplicate drawings as per user preferences. Implement version control to ensure that the most up-to-date drawings are always accessible. Offer reporting and analytics tools to help organizations track the cost savings and efficiency gains / achieved through this feature. Provide insights into the number of duplicates created/eliminated and the MH spent/saved. Design the feature to be scalable, allowing it to handle a growing number of CAD drawings and users without compromising performance. Implementing this feature will not only reduce overall drawing handling efforts but also enhance accuracy and consistency across downstream, leading to more optimized database management within PTC Windchill. We did a migration from model manager to windchill 12. In our organisation may users are loading models from model manager to creo elements/direct 3D access. With windchill this is not possible anymore. It would be great that it would be possible again to do that. This way it would also be possible to keep using modeling configurations and relation sets from within 3d access. In some cases the viewables from windchill can be used and opened in creo view, but it is not possible to use the relation sets and configurations from modeling. If these users want to use these configurations and relation sets, they need to have a full modeling license which is expensive and overkill. Our users need to open Creo Parametric files made by colleagues from the Windchill Workspace with CEDM. We know the Unite Technology that permits to open CEDM files from Windchill Workspace with Creo Parametric but we need the opposite. Now users that need to open Creo Parametric files add to workspace the models with the embedded browser, they export from Workspace into the file system and then they open files in CEDM from the File System. I wrote the case C16156676 after that I discovered that .sdcc files are not auto-associable and I found the article CS190813 that talked about the opposite, the customer asked a way to not auto-associate. These actions are not supported for other Creo Elements/Direct Modeling CAD documents, such as container, workplane, workplane set, and instance, which cannot form owner associations with parts. For some reason, this note was removed from later Help Center versions. But as it seems, it was already not supported in 10.0 and 10.1 and is not working in later releases. PTC Product Development team informed that this behavior should be expected also in current release that there is no support for Container parts (.sdcc parts) to have auto-associate functionality, even it is not supported in WGM 12.1 Please note that we raised SPR 13391369 against documentation.   Transfer the Windchill states of CAD files from UWGM to CAD client like Creo elements Direct Modeling as Windchill internal keywords but not as localized strings.   Currently the Windchill state of a model (assembly, part etc.) is transferred as a localized string while loading into a CAD client. This will lead into different messages for different languages. See Creo Elements Direct Modeling German example: English example: In case of certain defined custom actions each implementation must evaluate a localized string as for Trigger an action based on the state of a loaded CAD file Color coding within the CAD structure browser based on state Setting write protection based on state Adding new models based on a Library Adding a new standard part from a library like CADENAS or PartLibrary Advise the user based on the state to execute an action Not allowed to Checkout in case the model is out of date Not allowed to Checkout in case the model is already checked out by someone else Proposal to overcome that requirement The UWGM has to send keywords like the Windchill internal strings (see left column in following table) or simply by number coding e.g. in a binary system. The required localization to display the readable value will happen on the client CAD system only with appropriate local message files.   Benefit for customer and PTC partner Any kind of customization or third party integration has only take care about the keywords or numbers independent from the language the CAD system is running. I opened a case in the past, C12237071 PTC closed the case linking to the article CS201935 (not part of functionality), then I found an Idea, 475982, and I voted it. Now I see that it was archived, I have to create a new one. This one. The request is to have a way to change some things in Windchill for PartLibrary parts. Now users have to copy the part, to change it and to substitute it where it is used...very lost of time and resources. 4. What is the use case for your organization? The check-in functionality from CED to WorkgroupManager should be extended so that it will be possible to select a checked-in assembly and all checked-out and changed children can be checked in without the need for individual selection.   ... View more

When the user removes from workspace a Drawing, if the 3D Model is in session it is removed. Is wrong because the user can add in the workspace only the Model and open it in session without the drawing, that we don't understand why is not possible remove the drawing once it was added. 4. What is the use case for your organization? The use case is to clean the workspace and to work only on the objects to change. 5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization? show the memory status (30%, 40%, 50%) and estimated time for the storage (check in) process of our 3D models. If we store bigger models, we wait a long time without feedback from system. CED Integration can handle only EPMDocument(CADDocument) Attributes in browser views. Usage link , Occurence link, and so on should be also available for display and edit mode. We have AutoDesk Inventor WGM Integration and the LINENEUMBER could be edited in the integration. ... View more

It should be possible to switch of warnings "Data will be loaded as a new drawing. Please confirm to continue" when load a drawing from Windchill Workgroup Manager to Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. It is possible to switch of this warning with CED Model Manager using the command (setf modelmanager::*db-load-2d-enable-warning* :off).   At the moment it is not possible to have any automation with a drawing when a user have to agree this dialog manually. ...
