Creo Elements/Direct Ideas

We did a migration from model manager to windchill 12. In our organisation may users are loading models from model manager to creo elements/direct 3D access. With windchill this is not possible anymore. It would be great that it would be possible again to do that. This way it would also be possible to keep using modeling configurations and relation sets from within 3d access. In some cases the viewables from windchill can be used and opened in creo view, but it is not possible to use the relation sets and configurations from modeling. If these users want to use these configurations and relation sets, they need to have a full modeling license which is expensive and overkill. Our users need to open Creo Parametric files made by colleagues from the Windchill Workspace with CEDM. We know the Unite Technology that permits to open CEDM files from Windchill Workspace with Creo Parametric but we need the opposite. Now users that need to open Creo Parametric files add to workspace the models with the embedded browser, they export from Workspace into the file system and then they open files in CEDM from the File System. Hello, we are in 2021, in a pandemy. Virtualization technologies is the present and the future. We are using CEDM in VDI Horizon View since 5 years ago with success but recently we have some issues about the startup time, in particular since we upgraded to Windows 10. Then I opened a case C15749661 linking my issue to the article CS322040  I discovered there (thank to cs) the article CS130884 that talks about Creo Parametric and Citrix. show the memory status (30%, 40%, 50%) and estimated time for the storage (check in) process of our 3D models. If we store bigger models, we wait a long time without feedback from system. The check-in functionality from CED to WorkgroupManager should be extended so that it will be possible to select a checked-in assembly and all checked-out and changed children can be checked in without the need for individual selection.   ... View more

I'm asking to add to the lisp Windchill functions also a function to get the Windchill Url. I need it for a customization. In a two screen environment:   1. If the Model Manager window is maximized on the bigger screen, it is impossible to drag this window to the other smaller screeIn. The window has to be minimized first.   This should be possible like it is in other windows appications.   2. Model Manager stores window positions in wm_properties.lst. This can cause problems when a Model Manager window is placed on the second screen and you restart Model Manager on a single window environment. (beamer). In this case the window doesnt appear. Model Manager should restore windows only on positons really visible in the current environment. Missing functionality in n WGM integration to CED Modeling: "Generate associated drawings on copy"    We are using large designs which are mostly customer specific. A new design is often based on a previous or standard base design, which is copied and changed where needed. In ModelManager the "Generate associated drawings on copy" functionality is used to automatically generate a copy of the original drawing and attach this copy to the new model. This saves th engineer a lot of time.   For now, migrating from ModelManager to Windchill causes a lot of resistance because the manual creation and storing of drawings from copied models is very time consuming. Is it possible to update the BOM list automatic when a new part is inserted to the assembly? It should be possible to switch of warnings "Data will be loaded as a new drawing. Please confirm to continue" when load a drawing from Windchill Workgroup Manager to Creo Elements/Direct Modeling. It is possible to switch of this warning with CED Model Manager using the command (setf modelmanager::*db-load-2d-enable-warning* :off).   At the moment it is not possible to have any automation with a drawing when a user have to agree this dialog manually. ... PTC Creo Elements/Direct Drafting DA_DIM_DIAMETER command: The qualifiers ANSI, ISO, DIN, JIS and COMPANY are not documented in the help of Drafting (file:///C:/Program%20Files/PTC/Creo%20Elements/Direct%20Drafting%2020.1/locale/en/me_help/me_frame.htm). These qualifiers allows the symbol diameter to be automatically inserted or not as a prefix of the dimension. Possible other effects of these qualifiers are unknown. In Modeling shares have different part names: Example: a1   - p1   - p1.1   - p1.2   - p1.2.1 All of them have the model name part_housing. On export the naming will be the same with part names. Other systems identify shares with the name. Because the name is different the have different parts and not shares. So it would be better to have an option for name of the parts during export with the model names.
