As it turns out my example and my attempt to explain my problem were both pretty bad. Thanks to those who replied and we're able to read my mind and figure out the problem. My salvation was the variable section sweep and the x-trajectory. What I wanted to model was how the angle of a tool relative to a rotating piece of stock would effect the finished piece.
I was going to make a summary with some pics to illustrate the solution but that would probably be just as confusing. So I'm passing along this mock-up part that will hopefully give everyone that is not familiar with VSSs a little insight as to how they work.
