Autodesk 123D Catch
I just wanted to share this because I thought it was amazing! We took 30 pictures of a platewith an iPad running the appand a model was automatically created.
By opening the scene in the desktop version, I exported as an .OBJ file which could then be opened in ProE!

Interesting idea, but where is the Android app? I would like to test this on my Android phone.
Looks like you would still need to use another software to fit a NURB surface to the mesh (i.e: PolyWorks, etc.) before importing into Pro-E. Otherwise, you are only viewing the mesh file in Pro-E.

I tried just using our lab digital camera and the desktop version but it was very difficult to connect all the points in the pictures by hand.
There must be something magical about the iPad version because it just created the model by pushing a button.

something like Pro-scantools to turn this into surfaces, and they could
be very 'crinkly' I would guess that pro-scantools would then have some
ability to smooth the result.

neighbor and anyone else using this thing. They probably just wanna make a
library of stuff and want free labor from all of us. Well there is an F key
for that somewhere on this Keyboard I'm sure of it.....Anyway don't model
anything you hold precious like a new design, your face, your dog. I would
model something useless like a computer mouse or a keyboard. Maybe even
something where it is illegal to shoot but it looks legal. That way
eventually Autodesk would have to stop "cloud sourcing" their work and
maybe even be sued. I would rather do what google is doing where my work is
mine and no one gets a stray copy of it unless I am willing to share it
with the world. Plus any processing is done on my computer. It does not
take a super computer to do what they are doing. Rant off..

Yeah, good catch.
Seems like there is a lot of that digital communism going around now.
That is why I quit using Dropbox (which has similar terms.)
