My company has many legacy assy's created in CADDS 4X. My company decided not to pay to maintain the maintenance agreement for CADDS 5. We used AutoCad to convert the CADDS 4X files to (*.dwg) files. Does anyone know if there is a conversion utility that can convert (*.dwg) files into Pro/e parts and assy's for WF 3.0 users?
This should help: http://www.ptc.com/products/proe/autobuildz/index.htm http://www.ptc.com/WCMS/files/69152/en/AutobuildZ_topicsheet_v3.pdf http://www.ptc.com/products/packages/autobuildz/index.htm http://www.ptc.com/products/packages/autobuildz/tutorial/index.html
Thanks Andrew,I tried the tutorial in the link you provided and found the AutobuildZ tool very useful for creating solids from DXFs. I forgot to mention that I need to make parts in Pro/sheetmetal. Does it make sense to first create a solid part using AutobuidZ, followed by converting to sheetmetal using "SMT CONVERT"?
Yes - make a solid part first then convert to sheetmetal. Depending on the complexity of the CADDS parts, it might be easiest to add some of the walls as curves, and reference these when creating new walls in the converted sheetmetal part.
