Planet PTC Live

They announced the conference (replacement for PTC/USER) but little
info on costs is available. I looked that the other global events and
it appears that there is no cost to attend the event, is this the
case? Is PTC covering the costs? I just have to get there and pay
hotel?

Interesting, I wonder if it is in fact a no cost even now.  I wonder, then, what incentive they would offer presenters.  In the past, free entry into an $800 conference was incentive to put something together.  Having presented before, it's a lot of work to go through just because.  Also, noticed that they moved the deadline up significantly.  Used to be just after the 1st of the year, now mid November.

I was less than thrilled to see the change in the conference from a PTC/User sponsored event to a PTC sponsored one.  The list of topics seems to serve PTC's interests in marketing PTC and their products more than to provide a venue for user's to share and be educated.  In fact, most of what I'd be interested in seeing would fall into that 5th sort of catchall category, "The World According to PTC Users".  Seems to be the only category for user presentations.  What's "Environmental Performance" have to do with PTC software anyway?

Not really feeling the desire to go to this one.  Maybe that'll change as more info comes out.

I was mistaken about the cost. The other PTC Live events do have a
conference fee.

I am with you Doug, if this is just going to be a PTC sales tool, they
will not get good attendance. Unfortunately there are only so many
slots available for presentations and if the last category is only
getting 1/5 of the presentations then I will have NO reason to attend.

It will be interesting to see how this event turns out.

I see now. Interestingly, the Euro events are about $400, the Japan event around $300 and the Chinese only $128, according to Google's conversions.  Even the Euro event is half what PTC/User was.

it looks too me like it's also a social networking site for ptc/users..
which if used properly could be good thing.

as far as the events go it will probably be like any other ptc sponsered
event- all hype on what's coming and new and nothing useful on how to use
what we already have.

Chocolate is the answer. It doesn't matter what the question is.

I heard back from the event organizers, they state that presenters
will indeed get their admission covered. Good news there.
