SolidWorks to WF5

Does anyone have experience opening native SolidWorks files directlyinto Wildfire 5.0? If so:

  • Is the file parametric (can it be modified)?
  • Do properites (parameter-esk) come through?
  • Can it be save as a normal proe file?
  • Is there any special software that needs to be loaded?

Thank you,

Bob McDonald

Hi Bob,

Here are some answers to the best of my knowledge:

  • Is the file parametric (can it be modified)? - Not parametric, use feature recognition tool to create Pro/E features.
  • Do properites (parameter-esk) come through? - Not that I'm aware of.
  • Can it be save as a normal proe file? - It will have an Import Feature as its primary feature, similar to what you would find with STEP, Parasolid and IGES.
  • Is there any special software that needs to be loaded? - You need a license for Solidworks in order for this to work. There is a "key" you need to get from Solidworks (assuming you are current on their maintenance) and you enter this key usingthe hidden config option: swdocmgr_license_key.

Hope this helps.

Doug

Do you know what the name of the license key is to request from SolidWorks?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

See the PTC - TPI 145366 for details.

In this TPI it provides the email you need to send the request to and
the specific DLL you need a key for.
