Good question.

Cynical answer - take the date that PTC announce and then add on a few months.

Realistic answer - sometime next year - March/April 2006 is the latest I've heard. At one point there was talk of late 2005, but in an effort to do a good job of QA this has been pushed back a bit.

All the best with your UG / Mechanica issues. At one point many years ago this was a very high priority topic for Rasna, but there are not a huge number of UG & Mechanica users left thesedays. If you do have the option of using Pro/E to generate your geometry then you'll find it much slicker. Otherwise your best source of help will be Mechanica experts within Boeing (probably at your site), and PTC Tech Support.

David's right, they were shooting for a 3Q 2005 release but, according
to Jim Heppelmann (PTC VP) from the PTC/User event this past June in
Orlando, they delayed WF3 until 1Q 2006 to clean up some cumulative bugs
from earlier versions. Maybe I'm gullible but I got the feeling they
are really trying to release a "low bug" version compared to the past
versions. We'll see.

The word on the street that I have heard... Not much new functionality
in WF3 other that a major bug fix from all the previous revisions.

No need to listen to word on the street - have a look at the online
interactive release notes.

Specifically listed are:

28 enhancements for Structural & Thermal Simulation:

38

5 for Mechanisms (Kinematic & Dynamic)

80

Looks to me like a lot more than just bug fixes! Don't believe the hype.
Two years ago someone told me that they'd heard that Mechanica was being
retired. Amazingly, they believed it, despite huge evidence to the
contrary.

Does anyone know if WF3 mechanica will support 64bit memory so I can run
bigger jobs without running into the win32 1.8GB limit?

Current version supports 64bit, but it is a separate installation.
