model moves out of view

is there a way to stop the model from moving out of view when redefining?

I've had the same problem for many years with many versions of ProE. You would have thought PTC would have got to grips with this one by now. I know of no solution except in some cases you can press Ctrl+D to bring back in view (i.e. fit to screen)
