save-as with update parent

All,

Anyone have a "how to" for:

Workspace save-as with update parent. (How to use the "update parent"
ability?)

There is not really very much "how to" for this. Either you select the the parent assembly for
updating or you don't. The parent assembly needs to be checked out (or a new object) in order to be
eligible for updating.

I guess I was looking for a decent example on the steps.

First the item being copied and the parent assembly need to be uploaded or unmodified and the parent assembly needs to be checked out.

Check the item being copied and select File/Save As

1.JPG2.JPG

Update name of copy and select next.

3.JPG

Check the assembly to replace the item in and select Use Copy.

4.JPG

Select Finish.

If the parent assembly is "Struck Through", it is ineligible for some reason.  Hover mouse over red "i" to see reason, then cancel copy, fix issue, and start over.

A fellow worker uses this when he forgets to include an item in a save
as. He's not much on documenting how he does it. So - I am reaching.

The Windchill local client automatically prompts for the substitutions desired as soon as you do a Workspace Save-As to search for/select the target assembly (ies) and the target assembly(ies) need to be in the Workspace and be checked-out.

I think the lack of a video/all steps is that it is about 50 times more effort to create that tutorial than for you to try it.
