wildfire 2 to wildfire 3 student editions

wildfire 2 to wildfire 3 student editions

I have been informed by someone at my university that it is possible to upgrade wildfire 2 SE to wildfire 3 SE, i have wildfire 2 student edition but the uni now has wildfire 3, they dont interact as in cross referencing. have i been wrongly informed? thanks
