3D solid body sweeps (non Helical)

3D solid body sweeps (non Helical)

Solidworks and Catia have had this for over 10 years. Get with it PTC, you presented this prior to Creo 4 release.

Hi @KevinLHeureux Thank you for publishing your idea. However, we need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (questions below). The more details and context you give to document your idea, the better. Think about ways to educate and convince other Community members to support your idea and present your case to the product management team for consideration.

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
2. What product & version are you currently running?
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
4. What is the use case for your organization?
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Additionally, I invite you to check out this topic where 2 PTC executives explain product managers' approach to customer ideas and input for product roadmaps.

Medical manufacturing, Product Engineer

Creo 8

Sweep an end mill along a 3d curve and properly represent the resultant geometry. I can program it in CNC, but I cannot show it in CAD, nor cad I render or simulate the proper geometry.

4. What is the use case for your organization? we do this all the time.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

It should be obvious, we cannot show the proper part geometry across the platform. We cannot simulate it, render it, or describe in cad model. But i can create the physical item via cnc. If I can make it on a machine I should be able to show it in CAD.

As stated earlier, PTC's Paul Sagar showed this prior to Creo 4.0 release at a PTC event. All the major CAD players in the industry have this functionality and have for over 10 Years. This should be basic functionality for modern cad, especially given what we pay for this software now. Our cost have gone up exponentially with little to no basic updates.
