A button to automatically create sheet metal flat states by means of Simplified rep

A button to automatically create sheet metal flat states by means of Simplified rep

It would be useful if there was a button, like there currently is in the flat state preview, to allow automatic flat state creation by means of a simplified representation.

A lot of times people encounter problems with using family tables when it comes to saving copies of data or when working with Windchill, and therefore resort to the Simplified Rep method.

Currently a mapkey is written and icon created in the UI to make this process as seembless as possible, but some users do not have the knowledge to do this and it would be convenient if there was such a button. Perhaps even have a config.pro setting allowing you to determine the type of method applicable to the flat state preview flat state button. In other words, having the ability to set the flat state preview flat state button to use either family tables or simplified reps to create flat state

I would be all for this as well, but i would need them to fix part simp reps in drawings first.

I have not info about part simpl. rep. problem in drawings.

This is a great idea to add the functionality to core and perhaps then also to make this type of flat state function the same way as flat pattern ie. always staying at the bottom of the model tree. Thus allowing the user not to have to constantly go back to the part to drag these features down after adding addition features to the part.

Either that or create the ability to add the flat pattern bend back feature. In previous versions of Creo 2.0 it was possible to have a bend back feature after the flat pattern feature which worked well with simplified rep flat states.

The combination of flat pattern that is excluded in master rep but included in part simplified representation and combined state (all tab in view manager) would make the flattening process much better. Upsides: Fewer object in workspace. Possibility so swich between flat and formed state with tabs (display combined state) and can be presented on drawing. also I think it's more logical because the flat state is just Another representation of the same article - not a new object.

FYI:

This can be made today but without the flat pattern feature, because with current functionallity a feature cannot be included with part simp rep. only excluded. This means that one must use the "unbend / bend back" method which means that formed geometry will not be flattened.
