Ability to change the placement method of an "assembled" component to "included"

Ability to change the placement method of an "assembled" component to "included"

A component placed in an assembly using the "include" method can be easily changed to "assembled" using Edit definition.
However, we would need the opposite case: Redefine "assembled" components to "included".
And unfortunately that is not possible (see also the attached video).

Thank you for publishing your idea and adding the video - very much appreciated for question #3. However, we need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (Questions below). The more details and context you give, the better.

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

2. What product & version are you currently running?

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

1.

The organization where I work is in the manufacturing industry.
In the organization I am responsible for the CAD and PDM system administration.
I support about 300 Creo Parametric users.

2.

We are currently working with Creo Parametric 7.0.6.0.

Our BOMs are represented on drawings by means of Repeat Regions.
The individual BOM items are then identified in drawing views using BOM balloons.
Now it is common for us to have geometry-less items (e.g. welding instructions or any other accompanying documents) in the BOMs.
In order to place these as BOM balloons on the drawing without a leader line, the corresponding components must be placed in the assembly using the "Include" method.
Unfortunately, we still have many old assemblies where the geometry-less components were simply assembled to default.
These cannot now simply be redefined so that they are placed using the "Include" method.
Instead, you have to delete the existing component and place it again using "Include".

5.

The need to delete and reposition to switch from the "assembled" to "included" placement method is cumbersome.
Often you still have to drag the insert marker in the model tree to the desired position, which makes the process even longer.
A simple change of the placement method by "Edit definition" would be much more comfortable and time-saving.
