Ability to use measure tool in different window whilst creating a sketch

Ability to use measure tool in different window whilst creating a sketch

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Mechanical engineer in maritime industry

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?
8.0.0.0

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
I would like to be able to use the measure tool on part in one window, whilst simultaneously dimensioning a sketch on another part in another window. At the moment, you can either use the measure tool or create a sketch, but not both a the same time. As a result it is very time consuming to open and close the sketch you are working on when checking 15-20 different dimensions.

4. What is the use case for your organization?
We receive .step files from 3rd parties and would like to check key dimensions within Creo whilst creating the accompanying part.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Save time and reduce likelihood of errors.

Couldn't you just launch a second session of Creo?

I would consider that a work around, which is why I'm suggesting this as a product improvement. You no longer have to open multiple browsers to view more than one webpage, and this functionality exists in other CAD systems so why not with Creo? My gripe with a new session is I don't just work amongst two parts, sometimes it is three, sometimes five - a new session for each is cumbersome.

Agreed to add this functionality.

But Actually this is facing a  core issue of Creo:

Being able to project, offset, reference geometry of other parts without making external references by default. So just copy the position of the referenced edges into the sketch and dimension them in that sketch to internal references of the part itself.
