Add Flexibility to Drawing View(s) to Allow Parameters and or Dimensions to be Varied to Allow for Alternate Installed States without using Family Tables

Add Flexibility to Drawing View(s) to Allow Parameters and or Dimensions to be Varied to Allow for Alternate Installed States without using Family Tables

Please add the ability to place Drawing Views for Part & Assemblies with Flexibility. Adding Flexibility to Drawing View(s) to Allow Parameters and or Dimensions to be Varied will Allow for Alternate Installed State views to be placed without the need of using Family Tables in the parts or assemblies and will reduce PDM revision control issues.

When you have a family of parts like nuts, bolts, or other hardware it may make sense to use family tables to control varying attributes. When dealing with a part that is hot staked or crimped in place when being install, it would be nice not to have to create a family table just to control the installed state for placing a drawing view to show the install state options.

The two images below are derived using a parameter in the model tied to relations that control the shape and size of the two pins.

The part made flexible after it's placed in the assembly changing the parameter to the desired state for the pins to be shown in the assembly. I would like to do the same thing while placing a drawing view and have the ability to change the parameter to have the drawing view show the alternate installed state on the drawing without using family tables.

Thanks,

Don Anderson

You could cheat and make a dummy assembly that only contains this one model with flexibility turned on.  This assembly could then be added to your drawing to show the final condition.  It still creates an extra object in the PDM system but at least it's not a family table.
