Add Stroke special characters in PDF export

Add Stroke special characters in PDF export

Allow to export PDF with stroke special characters option.

Currently only "stroke all fonts" exists and that enlarges the PDF file size dramaticly.

With this option we can have workaround for problems relating support for some languages.

You have this as DXF export option already.

Yes!  It's very frustrating that PDF exporting works differently than printing.  When "Use True Type Fonts" is enabled for printing, any non True Type Fonts are still stroked.  When the same setting is used in export to PDF, everything is converted to a True Type Font and none of them are stroked.

"Use True Type Fonts"  (much smaller file size)

  • Print to PDF (maintains the "look" of the drawing)
    • Stroke all non-true type fonts
    • Export true type fonts where actually used
  • Save-As PDF (changes the "look" of the drawing)
    • Convert non-true type fonts to true type font
    • Export all text as a true type font

"Stroke All Fonts"  (much larger file size)

  • Print to PDF - stroke all fonts (maintains the "look" of the drawing)
  • Save-As PDF - stroke all fonts (maintains the "look" of the drawing)

Great idea!

We've been looking at switching from the old FONT to a newer truetype font, or at least something easier on the eyes...

However, in the past, we were put off by the PDF filesize caused by stroking fonts - which we need if we want to maintain the look of the drawings.

My ideal would be a setting that enables accurate representation of old drawings, while allowing us to use a new font for new drawings too.  All our Creo drawings go through the same CAD worker settings, so we need something that works for both.

Regards

Ed

How do you add this option to the current dialog box?

Also, can the option to stroke all special characters be added to a .pcf file?

If so what is the variable for it?

Thank you in advance for any  help you can provide.

That option was a mock up of what it could look like.  It doesn't actually exist, hence the idea.

great idea - currently it is really poor that if we are using stroke all fonts file size is so big if we have complex frames with lot of text and many annotations and dimmensins on drawing + PDF as result slow down a lot...
