When adding radiation or heat flux loads on an assembly, there is no feature to allow for the selection of all EXTERNAL surfaces of the assembly.  One can only select "boundary" surfaces of each component, which results in the selection of a lot of interface surfaces which would not actually be exposed to radiation.  The only other option is to select each external surface individually, which can be very tedious for complex assemblies.

Thanks Frank.  That is a nice idea, but I don't think it would help when the assembly is comprised of parts of different materials.  I think a shrinkwrap assembly would allow for easy selection of all the boundary surfaces, but it would no longer be possible to assign different materials properties to each individual part.
