Add functionality to modify table in 3D Annotation directly when needed

Add functionality to modify table in 3D Annotation directly when needed

1. As known, table is one of the most important functionality not only in drawing  but also in 3D annotation.

2. Customer LG do not use drawing, they do all needs in 3d annotation include table functionality (with symbol type)

3. But when needs to add addtional information to table, addtional columns or rows is required to add.

4. It is very inconvenient to modify symbol and add the requires everytime.

5. Request to add a functionality to modify table in 3D annotiaton directly when needed.

I see your point... and I think this is a good request. I'd like to see how Creo 3.0 handles this. Maybe there have already been enhancements made?

I think the real request for this should be adding the functionality of creating table directly in 3D annotation

Still no table functionality in Creo 3 as of M100.

This is a very good idea that we are considering to add in the future. This idea is a duplication of another idea that received more votes:

Create a 3D Annotation table in Creo Parametric?

1. Table is one of the most important functionality not only in drawing but also in the 3D annotation.

2. We working on MBD and are facing a lot of challenges in pulling out Revision history and BOM.

So we need 3d annotation to include table functionality (with symbol type)

3. But when one needs to add additional information to the table, additional columns or rows is required to add.

4. It is very inconvenient to modify symbols and add the requirements changes every time.

5. Request to add functionality to modify a table in 3D annotation directly when needed. ( Add Row, Column, Merge)

6 . In assembly mode should be able to create balloons and derive a BOM table too and manage Revision History

Hi @slandge

Can you please clarify several requirements that you have mentioned above:

In #2. you mentioned "We working on MBD and are facing a lot of challenges in pulling out Revision history and BOM.

So we need 3d annotation to include table functionality (with symbol type)" - what do you mean when you say "with symbol type" ?

In #6. you mentioned "In assembly mode should be able to create balloons and derive a BOM table too and manage Revision History" - So regarding the balloons request. do you really feel that is really required for MBD? The reason I am asking is because in 3D you have the hierarchy of the model and the model tree - so if lets say you had a BOM table which was also supporting cross highlighting of the corresponding component when a specific row in the table is selected (or also vice versa), why would you need the balloons for?

after all the main role of balloons is to help the reader of the drawing to quickly find a reference for an item in the BOM table, but while 2D drawings do not support this kind of cross-highlighting, 3D models probably can.

wouldn't you agree that BOM balloons might be a thing of 2D drawings and not necessary required for MBD?

@slandge and @Mfridman,

It might be better to have this conversation over on the active idea instead of this duplicate one.

Hi @Mfridman

#2. We working on MBD and are facing a lot of challenges in pulling out Revision history and BOM.

Pulling up table in to Part mode is a challenge. (Revision Table, Color Part Table )

  • We created a symbol Table by using line command, which is a challenge. Then pulled up the symbol table into part mode
  • Added notes to the table flat to screen in the combination state.
  • After saving the part --- > check into Windchill and reopening the Part the notes are moving a and merging in other cells
  •  After opening in Creo view also its the same case
  • notes_flaoting.JPG
  • TABLE.JPG

"So we need 3d annotation to include table functionality (with symbol type)" - what do you mean when you say "with symbol type"

  • We need Table Functionality in the 3D mode (MBD).
    • Which will allow to Add Rows and Columns ,Merge cells
    • Repeat Region Functionality
    • In Assembly mode able to add balloons from the table . Able to generate BOM
  • Other software's like Solid Works, Solid Edge everyone is providing this functionality

#6 point

So regarding the balloons request. do you really feel that is really required for MBD?

What you say I agree, Real time examples

Example :- But when we export it to a PDF and exploring the details on the downstream (Shop floor) for the person working on machine will be difficult

Vendor/Supplier- need to figure out the part in the TDP which is share with him and discuss with Engineer and GSS person

- If we do a exploded view to highlight all the parts in the assembly is much needed.

Right now I am creating table using Notes not sure if its a right process and weather it will sustain.

Need to align the columns a lot
