The User Interface Window for the View Manager, Rename and Configurable Product are very similar across the Creo Parametric Platform in the fact they both contain a "Model Tree" area along with a "Model Graphics" area. The issue I'm running into is that none of the settings associated with the UI have config options associated with them. I'm asking for config settings on all the options shown in the picture to turn them on and off. We also use the "feature name" column in the model tree to enhance navigation and define conditions of use, thus the request to have a "Save Settings File" option added to the menu.
For Reference, at bottom is a video which really drives home why our company needs to be able to turn off the Model Graphics by default. In our environment, our users have been complaining about this issue since WF5 in our large assemblies. We entered a case to resolve the unneeded download of data and "hang" issue into the Cache folder, but it was answered as "works to spec". I'm OK with the intended functionality. However, I'm not OK that there is no config option to disable the Model Graphics window which turns off the auto download spigot.
Based on my testing of the configurable product, the "Auto Update Preview" and "Prehighlight" setting would need to be turned off in our environment for optimum performance.
I'm sure there are other companies with large assembly structures in need of this customization. Please vote it up.
