Add the ability to have a start part for PRO/PROCESS Process Plans

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
I am the engineering manager in a heavy machinery manufacturing business. Our stakeholders are mechanical designers, process engineers and assembly staff. Our industry is quite low volume (approx. 100 machines per month) but very high mix (several billion possible combinations of an assembly based on options on the price list).

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?
Creo Parametric 8.0.2.0

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
To integrate properly with our PDM Link installation we need to add parameters to the process plan file, which are mapped to IBAs in Windchill. We also need standard views to be available, e.g. Front, Left, etc. so that when we are creating a drawing showing the steps that are required, we can easily create the required views. Because there is no start part for a process plan, it is impossible to create these parameters and views easily, without resorting to using something like Modelcheck to create them for you.

4. What is the use case for your organization?
We need to provide step by step instructions for certain assemblies, in order to control process, improve training and ultimately improve the cost of quality by reducing rework. Pro/Process (process plans in Creo) is an ideal solution for this, but we cannot use it currently in an efficient way because of the difficulties in integrating with our PDM system.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
The ability to easily create process plans of complex assemblies, using familiar tools to the design engineers, will improve speed of training, such that we could get new employees up to speed more quickly, while also improving the cost of quality.
