Allow Intelligent Fastener to select inactive surfaces

Allow Intelligent Fastener to select inactive surfaces

Hello,

When using IFX it is not possible to select inactive surfaces.

For expample the overall assembly of a product contains diffrent variants of subassemblies. Now in the design process we are adding the bolt/nut/washer to one of the variants by activating the subassembly and assembling the bolt. Right now we are using the OOTB functionality of Creo to assemble bolts like this since it is not possible to select inactiv surfaces with IFX.

The provided solution within IFX by setting up an offset for the screw or the surface is ok and seen as a workaround. However the benefit of checking fastener connections automatically as well as placing the bolt/washer/nut on the surface after changing the thickness of the inactive e.g. sheetmetal is not given anymore.

The reason for this is, that IFX does not allow external references outside the assembly where the fastener is assembled to.

If you activate a subassembly, then only references inside this subasm can be selected.

Otherwise you will get this message if you open your subasm and try to redefine the fastener.

In IFX it is even possible to assemble the holes without external references.

Set the IFX-Option 'USE_EXTERNAL_REFERENCES' to 'NO'.
