Allow Set Datums To Show on Drawings of Models with Inheritance Features

Allow Set Datums To Show on Drawings of Models with Inheritance Features

Set datums cannot be displayed on drawings of parts when the set datums exists in the originating model of an inheritance feature.  If GTOLs are created using these set datums in the part with the inheritance feature, the GTOL will display properly in the feature reference frame but the datums on the part cannot be displayed.  Annotations work but set datums cannot be displayed.  You also cannot create a set datum of the same name in the target model because creo recognizes the name is already in use.

As a work around to get set datums to show on the drawings, you might be able to do the following:

In the model that will have the inheritance feature, create datums with same names as the originating model.  i.e. if the originating model has set datums A, B, & C, create those names in the model that will have the inheritance feature BEFORE you create the inheritance feature.  They don't have to be set datums.  Now add your inheritance feature.  The set datums of the originating model in the inheritance feature will be "renamed" with a suffix (A_1, B_1, and C_1)**.  You can then rename the A, B, & C datums (or perhaps, delete them), and then create new datums referencing the inheritance set datums.  Name those new datums A, B, & C, set them, and use them in your GTOLs.  They might then show in your drawing.

Not the most graceful method, but it might work.  I haven't tested a method of getting the names changed if the inheritance feature already exists.  The feature names within the inheritance feature itself don't seem to update with the originating model.

** The datums are renamed because your model can have multiple inheritance features all of which can originally have datums A, B, & C.
