Currently one can only used results of a previous steady state analysis as initial temperatures for a transient thermal analysis. One can use the results of a transient thermal analysis as input for a structural analysis but not for another transient thermal analysis. Therefore, if one is determining the temperature distribution in a valve and the flow conditions change, one is out of luck as one cannot either vary the convection coefficient with time or start a new analysis with a different convection coefficient using the result of a previous analysis.
