I've had need of this several times and would like a native Creo/Pro assembly to have the ability to be saved as a part. I know Edit->Component->Merge can be done, but a simple Save As Copy and chose .prt would be so much simpler.
It may, but then I have to bring it back into Pro and save it as a part, creating extra steps and time. If we can do all these other formats, it should be a no-brainer to add our own native .prt style. I'd rather have a native Pro part then have to deal with anything else.
I need this functionality too. If save a copy a large assembly file including a lots of components (about six Hundred component) to IGES/STEP, it will take a long time to import the IGES/STEP file into part mode. Also the file size of IGES/STEP is too large.
Creo 3.0 add one great enhancement "Collapse any features into either independent or incremental geometry in part mode", please add collapse all parts in assembly mode too. Just like merge all the parts into one part.
