For ease of understanding my explanation, Model A is inherited by Model B.
I would like to display a dimension from model A in a note that is on Model B. A note in the drawing of model B can be created that does this by using the syntax &dXXX:iid_YYY, where dXXX is a dimension ID from model A and YYY is the inheritance ID of model A, this will display the dimensional value of the dimension in the note. When these same steps are taken in a note that is created on model B(not in the drawing), the "&" is dropped off of the note and the note displays dXXX:iid_YYY. I have submitted a case to PTC and they have indicated that is the intended functionality(reference case 11699027). If this functionality exists on the drawing it would be nice if it also existed on the model as well.
