Current Pro/E (Creo) functionality has a parameter in bulk parts for BOM_REPORT_QUANTITY. It would be nice to have this parameter available in other standard (solid) parts or even assemblies.
My current situation is that I have a part that is injection molded as a 4-ganged part. It can be used as-molded in a 4-up configuration, but it can also be cut into individual pieces, which has been modeled as a family table instance. Whether I assemble the part as the full (4) part or the single (1) part, the rpt.qty parameter in my BOM table returns a value of 1 for each part installed. I would like the ability to make the single part to return a BOM_REPORT_QUANTITY of 0.25 since it is 1/4 of the 'full' molded part. I do not want to create a separate (unique) part number for the 'single' part since it would show up as a separate line item in the BOM table.
The only way to control the BOM table report quantity with the current functionality would be to manually modify the BOM table, which I would prefer to not do. It seems that this functionality could be used for other parts that may be modeled as a raw stock (bar or tube) and have instances that report a specific BOM quantity on the rpt.qty parameter for the fraction of the full stock length.
For instance, if I had an 8-foot long 2x4 and I cut it into 4 equal pieces 2 feet long each, the BOM report quantity would be 0.25 for each piece. If I used four of those pieces, the BOM report quantity would be 1.0. In this instance, I do not have a unique part number for the 2-foot length piece since it is 'made from' the 8-foot length which is the purchased part.
