Allow to reorient an annotation diameter driven dimension

As reported in post LINK , I would like to make an improvement for driven dimensions created as diameter (annotation menu).
I would like the driven dimensions created as diameter to be able to be reoriented with the same behavior as a diameter created from a sketch, that's to say. it can be reoriented from the FRONT annotation plane to the TOP plane for example. More precisely on a plane parallel to the axis of revolution.

See exemple below : reorientation of the two types of dimensions :

This methodology is useful when it is not possible to reuse the diameter dimension of the sketch.

Thank you for publishing your idea. However, we need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (questions below). The more details and context you give to document your idea, the better. Think about ways to educate and convince other Community members to support your idea and present your case to the product management team for consideration.

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

2. What product & version are you currently running?

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

We are a company that develops watch mechanisms and then manufactures them. We produce a large quantity of 3D CAD objects in order to define the product down to the smallest detail on the one hand and to industrialize it on the other. My role is to develop the mechanisms in 3D and to produce the 2D drawings (.drw). I also deal with product updates (changes) throughout its life cycle. This improvement concerns users creating 3D objects whose dimensions are added using the MBD method with the creation of combined views.

2. What product & version are you currently running?

4. What is the use case for your organization?

The typical use case is an inheritance of an existing part in which we make an offset. Then you must dimension the resulting diameter. Finally, reorient the dimension in the correct annotation plane which is systematically parallel to the axis of revolution.

To work around this problem I create a sketch on a plane perpendicular to the axes of the extrusions (cylindrical) or revolutions. I project the cylindrical surfaces and add a driven dimension. it allows me to add this dimension to my combined view and reorient it according to an annotation plane parallel to the axis of revolution. You can also consult the workaround methods proposed by the PTC community see link I put above to the ptc forum.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

This is a time saver on our process and avoid creating an unnecessary sketch (or references) to the model just to make a dimension appear correctly

it allows to have a similar behavior between the reorientation of a sketch dimension and the reorientation of an annotation dimension
