Annotations Features and Elements are necessary to complete a MBD (Model Based Definition) or PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) model.
After the solid is finished all Annotation Features needs to be defined inside the model. Sometimes it's necessary to define Combined Views and Simplified Reps for a better understanding of the detail shown on the screen.
As soon as a Annotation Feature is inside a Simplified Rep, it's not possible to redefine or modify it.
I was told that an annotation feature is a feature and that's the reason why!
On one side it's OK, becasue it's a feature, but on the other side an Annotation Feature cannot modify the geometry of a part, so it's a indirect feature, or in other words an result of geometric features - only a measurement.
From my point of view, it must be possible to redefine a annotation Feature inside a Simplified Rep, without any issues. How can we design a MBD model without changing dimension inside a simplified rep? That's absolut not possible. The workaround of PTC is to move the annotation feature inside an other view, change it and bring it back. That's a silly workaround, and too much work for a designer and slow down daily work.
There's also another issue with an annotation feature:
If you modify an annotation feature, CREO doesn't perceive the change in case of saveing the file. "Part was not saved becasue of no change"
This is a contradiction of a annotation element inside CREO and needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
Make the usage of annotation features and elements the same as dimensions and symbols inside a drawing.
Without a more and closer comfortable usage of annotation features and elements, PTC will loos market shares very fast.
