I would like to be able to select a number of components in an assembly (eg. selecting them from the model tree) and assign the same material to all of the selected components by right clicking and selecting an assign material command.
No, material assignment needs to be done at the component level.
Why do you need to change the assigned material at the assembly level?
How many times do you define a bunch of parts and then decide to change their material after you have built the assembly?
Today you can assign a material (edit material command) to a single component in an assembly but you cannot select a number of component in an assembly and assign them the same material. Today you have to select them one by one instead of selecting a number of components (parts) using cntrl for example.
This is possible in Creo 7.0:
Select components in Model Tree > Edit Materials > Assign Material.
Hello I wished I could assign protection or paint in the same way as materials. Likewise I would like to assign a topic to asm. I use the user parameters in the materials to push the information in the drw and in PDMlink, suddenly a mechanically welded asm has no material
