When you publish your sensitive, proprietary, possibly ITAR controlled models for an AR experience, they get sent to PTC's server... somewhere. It's secured by your personal PTC account, which, let's be honest, is not secure, and the AR experience is accessible to ANYONE with the link. This is enabled by default. We have disabled it because this configuration does not meet our security requirements for technical data.
We need to be able to customize the server location to go to our own Thingworx/Vuforia server, and have access controls, AND one of the options should be to store it in Windchill, without the need for a Thingworx interface.
For what it's worth, PTC promised this capability to me back before AR publishing was made available, then failed to follow through.
