Automatically Activate Window for New CAD Document Opened From New Part Creation

Automatically Activate Window for New CAD Document Opened From New Part Creation

Per Article CS9099, it is intended functionality that if multiple Creo Parametric windows are already open, a new window is not automatically activated after retrieval of a model from Windchill via the Open in Creo action from the embedded browser. The purpose of this enhancement request is to change this behavior and automatically activate the new window specifically in the scenario of using the Open in Authoring Application option when creating a new CAD object in conjunction with creating a new Part. In this use case, the user typically intends to work on the new model immediately, and it would be optimal to not require manually activating the new window.

Hello David,

You can look at this Article CS185944 "How to pre select "Open in Authoring Application" checkbox automatically when New CAD Document wizard loads in Windchill PDMLink 10.2". I know the article has not been update past 10.2 M020, however I know this works in later versions including Windchill 12.1.0.0.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Thom

Hi Thom, thanks for the reference! The behavior we had a request for was that when the file opens in Creo after selecting this option, the new window would be automatically activated when multiple other windows are already open. When a single file created through the Windchill UI is opened in Creo, their experience was that the new file window wasn't consistently activated when opened and they thought that it should be. Hope that makes sense, not sure if you have seen anything related to that behavior other than the article referenced in the idea submission?
