CREO Admin Interface

CREO Admin Interface

As a CAD Admin new to CREO it is frustrating when defining the Company config.sup files with the correct options. There are so many indiviual files that the CAD Admin must go to change that it is easy to forget to change some files.

Make the interface for the CAD Admin a GUI that lists all of the differnet options for the config.sup file.

The CAD Admin would go into this interface and make changes that would modify the CREO files (i.e. dwg.dtl files, Plot.pcf files, pen_table.pnt files, etc.)

Other CAD software has this type of interface and it works well.

You need to consider carefully what options you put into your config.sup file. Options in that file cannot be overridden by subsequent config.pro file option.

We use a config.sup with about 5 options only. We then utilize 3 config.pro files. One system level in the same text folder as config.sup, one  project level  file in the user's home folder (c:\users\<username>) and one in their start-in folder (c:\PTC_USER\<username>). They cannot edit the files in the text folder or the project file, but can add anything they want to their local copy. If they try to edit the project file, the next time they starts Creo, the file is deleted and a master copy is copied to the folder.
